M-M-GOOOOOOOD
I think I am finally a Mormon mom! I made bread today. Not just any bread. We are talking grinding my own food storage wheat completely from scratch bread. For Christmas I got a wheat grinder and a really nice mixer from my mom and then I got some great lessons from my mother-in-law on how to make a great loaf of bread. The other day I thought I would give it a shot and failed terribly. I discussed the issues with my mother-in-law who quickly diagnosed the problem and so I decided to give it another try today and it worked perfectly!!!!
My house smells so fantastic right now I wish I could bottle the smell and just spray it around my house each day. So, I have some warm fresh out of the oven bread on my counter right now that is just screaming for butter and honey. Don't you want to come join me?

Two questions...1. What type of mixer do you have? Ours did not do a great job because the mixing bowl was to small. 2. How long did you let it rise before cooking. Ours fell really flat.
Angie- I have a KitchenAid with a 5 qt mixing bowl. It was very full towards the end. I let it raise about 25-30 minutes. Sorry to hear you had trouble your first time as well!
Did you do the full 16 cups of flour or did you half the recipe. It did not fit our 5 qt mixing bowl. It also did not mix well because it was so full.
I'll bring the honey butter! (I'm just pretending for a second that we're neighbors. = )
Angie- I did do the full 16 cups. Like I said toward the end as I was adding the flour when I would turn the mixer on some would spill out the side it was so full but it still worked. I would maybe try to half the recipe but I wanted to get as much bread as I could for the effort.
Mmmm...look delish! Can I come over and try and bite - and you can teach me a lesson or two in bread making?!?! :)
There's nothing better than homemade bread right out of the oven--one of my favorites--YUM!!
I LOVE fresh bread that permeates through the house! Don't be suprised if you find me begging on your doorstep!
yummies!! someday i'll get a place big enough to hold a kitchenaid on the counter! :)
Brook, I was so excited to find your blog from Sue's blog. I can't believe you made bread from scratch! That's impressive! Do you remember going to Sis. Blackhams and making bread one time for a YW activity? Anyway, so fun to catch up and your family is sooooo cute!
